February 24, 2000

The Ellettsville, Indiana, Plan Commission met in special work session at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2000 at the Ellettsville Town Hall. Members present were Kevin Farris, President, David Sorokoty, Vice President, Frank Buczolich, Sandra Hash, Clerk-Treasurer, Geraldine McIntyre, Council President, and Pat Mitchell, Secretary. Terry Baker was absent. Mr. Farris called the meeting to order.

WORK SESSION FOR RECEIVING INFORMATION ON COMMUNICATION TOWERS OF THE ELLETTSVILLE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION:

Rick Coppock, of Bynum Fanyo Associates, Bill Land, Planner and Jim Davis, Ellettsville Building Inspector and Fire Chief were also present.

Brian O’Neal, President of Monroe County Commissioner and Monroe County Plan Commission member came to speak on the issues and problems encountered by the County and shared copies of the county ordinances concerning towers to be used for transmittal of radio, wireless, and TV communications.

Copies of the Bloomington ordinance concerning towers were also available for review.

Karla Kennard-Frownfelter, Reporter for The Journal newspaper was also present.

Various questions and concerns were voiced concerning an Ordinance regarding TV, radio, and wireless communication tower facilities. It was the consensus of the group after much discussion to recommend a moratorium on this issue. Upon motion by David Sorokoty, second by Frank Buczolich, and unanimous vote that "A Moratorium on wireless, radio and TV communication tower facilities be passed on to the Ellettsville Town Council for up to a six month time with an extension of time if needed."

Upon motion by Geraldine McIntyre, second and unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned.
