2008-EUV-004 600 W. Temperance Street, Monroe County Library (variance, number of parking spaces)

Ben Rawlins- Odle McGuire & Shook Corporation (Indianapolis)- The Monroe County Library, Ellettsville Branch, want to add an additional space to the building for a children’s reading room.  If we build the area onto the building we would be giving up two current parking spaces that would make us deficient in the number of parking spaces by Ellettsville code.  I’m here this evening to request a variance on the number of required parking spaces.

Ben presented his drawings for review by the board.  The board reviewed the plans.

Terry Baker- I question if this will change fire code issues.  (A call was made to the fire station and Terry was told it would not affect the code).

Geraldine McIntyre- Expressed concerns for the limited number of parking spaces in that area, and the overflow of people wanting to go into the post office and how the other members would feel, since two members were absent.

Connie Griffin- I talked with Darlyne Sowder and she said it was a “no brainer” she wanted to allow the variance, as well as Fred Baugh, it’s something for the kids and I think this is ok to allow the variance.

We do have the parking area behind the gas station for public use, but I don’t think that it is marked very well, and most people tend to pull into the library lot for convenience.

Terry Baker- Are there any other questions or concerns, seeing none I entertain a motion.

Philip Rogers- I entertain to allow the parking variance- 2008-EVU-004,  600 W. Temperance Street, Monroe County Library parking variance for the number of required parking spaces. Geraldine McIntyre- I second the motion.  Terry Baker- Motion Carries

Terry Baker- I entertain a motion to adjourn.  Phil Rogers made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Geraldine McIntyre.  All in favor, motion carried.  Meeting adjourned 6:45 P.M.
