Approval of Minutes

Geraldine McIntyre made a motion to approve the minutes of October 14, 2013.  Amy Slabaugh seconded.  Motion carried.

Review of Accounts Payable Expenditures

Geraldine McIntyre made a motion to approve the Accounts Payable Expenditures.  Amy Slabaugh seconded.  Motion carried.  Claudetta Kelly said Sandra Hash, Clerk-Treasurer, told her when she picked up the materials this week that the money the Park Board has to spend is its money to spend.  It doesn’t need to be approved by the Town Council.  What the Park Board decides to do with it is up to them.

Old Business

Richard Pease asked if they have heard an update about the status of benches for the park.  Ms. Slabaugh replied at the last meeting they had discussed playground equipment.  She asked Jim Ragle about it and he doesn’t care.  He just wants new playground equipment.  If they decide to buy park benches, maybe a few need to be put by the playground because there is no where to sit if kids are playing.  Mr. Pease asked if the money is for the new fiscal year budget.  Ms. McIntyre replied it’s for the remainder for this year.  Ms. Kelly said the budget for next year will be the same.  Mr. Pease said they should buy the benches in December if the money doesn’t carry over.  Ms. McIntyre thinks the money carries over to next year.  Ms. McIntyre asked if Jimmie Durnil still wanted to get benches. Ms. Kelly answered yes.  At the last meeting he wanted to get two benches and was going to check into it.  Ms. Slabaugh asked if the benches are for the Fall Festival or what are they doing with the benches.  Ms. Kelly replied she doesn’t think they’re just for the Fall Festival.  Mr. Pease added there are going to be plaques put on the benches stating “Donated by the Park Board”.

New Business

Geraldine McIntyre announced Santa Claus will arrive at 9:30 a.m. on December 14, 2013, in Ellettsville and the Lodge will serve breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  The cost is $6 a person and children under five years old are free.  The Library Board asked if the Park Board could put a tree in Memorial Park across from the log cabin which will be open on that day.  She talked to Sandra Hash and she said they can do this.  Jim Ragle will have to plant it if they go with a live tree or they can go with an artificial tree.  Ms. Slabaugh thinks it is a good idea.  Ms. McIntyre asked her to take this on.  If Jim Ragle doesn’t want to do it they can go to Utilities.   After a discussion it was decided to purchase a live tree.

Richard Pease made a motion to look for a tree around $50 to $55.  Geraldine McIntyre seconded.  Motion carried.

Richard Pease asked if the tree will be decorated.  Ms. McIntyre replied they will put lights on it.  Mr. Pease noted they give the Town money for lights.  Ms. McIntyre said Sandra Hash stated lights are no problem because they put up several anyway.

Geraldine McIntyre made a motion to adjourn.  Amy Slabaugh seconded.  Motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 p.m.
