Old Business

Skate Park

Cathy Cerajeski updated the Board as follows on Skate Park activities;

-Cathy gave Darlyne a check to transfer funds from prior donations into the Town account.

-Usage has varied from 1 to 12 participants per day, with weekends being the heaviest, given that school is in session.

-Future expansion plans are “on hold” as they have not been able to get a meeting scheduled.

-A couple of ramps are showing wear, will check with Jim Ragle to make certain they are in good repair.

-The Skate Park will probably try to operate through the end of October, weather permitting. They have been closing around 6:45-7:00pm as it is getting darker earlier in the evening.

-Donations totaling $96.00 were raised by volunteers doing soft drinks and hot dogs.

-Equipment needs; wrist guards and some helmets. The knee and elbow pads are OK. Would like to have some more Rubbermaid containers and tarps to cover the ramps before bad weather. The Board authorized the purchase of any items needing replacement. Cathy will prepare an inventory of equipment and replacement needs and send it to Darlyne. Darlyne will check with Jim Ragle to see if he has any tarps that may be used for the ramps.

Park Dedication

We will hold discussion of the park dedication until the next meeting.

New Business

-Darlyne raised the issue of the lack of records from the previous Parks Board. They were, apparently in error, not filed as part of the Town records. Jerry Pittsford agreed to try to secure these records from Leasa Farkas.

-Darlyne learned that there was to be a plaque prepared listing contributors to the playground equipment installed at Campbell’s Park. The list of donors and amounts may be in the prior records if we are able to secure them. If the records are not available, Sandy Hash has the ability to review prior deposits to rebuild the donor listing. Once we have verified this listing and the amounts contributed, we will take responsibility for the creation and placement of an appropriate plaque as was agreed.

-Darlyne was able to track and retain a copy of the deed transfer verifying ownership of the Campbell’s Park property as of July 6, 1953 with the stipulation that the property be maintained as a park.

The next meeting of the Parks Board will be 7:00pm, Monday, November 5, 2001 at the Town Hall.

Art Moynihan made a motion to adjourn the meeting. L. D. Axsom seconded the motion.  Motion carried 3-0.
