The Ellettsville Parks Board met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the Ellettsville Fire Department Training and Conference Room, 5080 West State Road 46, Bloomington, Indiana. Jimmy Durnil called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.


Pledge of Allegiance

Jimmie Durnil led the Board in the Pledge.


Members in Attendance

Jimmie Durnil, Claudetta Kelly, Richard Pease, Geraldine McIntyre and Amy Slabaugh.


Approval of Minutes

Geraldine McIntyre made a motion to approve the minutes of July 1, 2013.Richard Pease seconded.Motion carried.Mr. Durnil explained the procedure for meeting minutes.


Review of Accounts Payable Expenditures

Jimmie Durnil explained the budget for 2014 is $23,843.It says itís the same as last year but he thought there was more than that.He will try to attend the next budget meeting.Scott Oldham, Town Council President, is wanting them to get more involved in whatís going on.The Town is wanting to expand the park land so they can apply for bigger grants.


Old Business

Jimmie Durnil explained theyíve been trying to figure out something they can buy for the Fall Festival.They thought about park benches but received a letter about ADA issues.Then, he received information that the Street Commissioner doesnít want park benches but wants playground equipment.Ms. McIntyre added itís because the equipment is getting old and needs replaced.Mr. Durnil met with Jim Ragle and Marty Stephens, Township Trustee.Mr. Stephens said he would donate the concrete if Mr. Ragle would put in the equipment.They were going to buy three park benches for $1,800 but didnít have enough money allocated.So, they decided not to do this.He asked Ms. Slaubaugh to talk to Mr. Ragle to find out what park equipment he would like for them to purchase.He will get with Scott Oldham to find out what they can come up with.


Jimmie Durnil advised they charged Roy Wever a deposit of $100 to open the bathrooms during a benefit and refunded it to him.


Jimmie Durnil explained the shelter rental process.



Geraldine McIntyre made a motion to adjourn.Richard Pease seconded.Motion carried.The meeting was adjourned at 5:44 p.m.
