If you’ve driven through Ellettsville lately, you’ve probably noticed some construction on State Road 46. INDOT is currently working on the eastbound bridge at Park Street, and traffic is down to one lane starting at Paul Street. The project involves structural improvements that will take several months to complete.

While there aren’t any other INDOT projects planned in Ellettsville this year, similar work on the westbound bridge at Sale Street is expected early next year.

We know this kind of construction can cause delays—especially during school drop-off and pickup. That’s why Town Manager Mike Farmer and the Ellettsville Police Department have been meeting with leaders from Seven Oaks Classical School to come up with a plan to help keep traffic flowing. The school will be sharing those details directly with parents and families.

Right now, there’s a full traffic control setup in place—barrels, guardrails, and signs to help guide drivers safely through the area. As work continues, expect more lane shifts and changes.

Please plan ahead and give yourself some extra time when heading through town—especially during busy hours.

We’re also in touch with Richland-Bean Blossom schools, since the project could affect eastbound traffic around their campuses. We’ll keep working together to minimize the impact as much as possible.

Thanks for your patience as we support this important improvement to our local roads.
